While there is nothing funny about losing sleep, one can cope much easier by making it into something humorous.

WINTER DOLDRUMS:
From Boredom to Snoredom and Beyond!

Days are short
Nights are not
Shadows form
And thought
for thought,
Disappear.

Days are cold
Nights are colder
Visions appear
Bold and
bolder,
‘Tis clear.

Days convalesce
Nights restore
Unless there’s a spouse
Who snores and
snores,
In your ear.

Alas, ‘tis the dreaded
Days of Boredom
Turned into dreadful
Nights of  Snoredom!

Aye, and 'tis time to re-group
When your silence takes its flight
Trading your night for day
And your day for
night,
I hear.

So a Toast to the man
Who invented the plugs
And hats-off to the chemist
Who creates OTC drugs!

May they joyfully merge
Into a sound night’s sleep
That heals us long
and heals us deep,
Amen!

A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. .             Proverbs 17:22

May we all  be delivered from Winter Doldrums this year! :)

Such a "real" write that tells it like it is. I for one cannot sleep if I hear snoring... ...not a wink. So, I find a "snoreless" place to sleep. Love, peace, and blessings to you, Rhonda,

Regis. 🙏💚🌺🍁

Trading day for night or night for day.
Well a sleepless night isn't easy;
but that's when a spouse is essential!
Thanks for sharing, Rhonda!

This is so fitting for the cold, dark winters in Pennsylvania. I love your style in this one, and the story behind the verse is so amusing, as long as I'm not the one who shares my bed with the snorer.

Love you, Dear Sis!

At this time of the year when it tends to be dark, cold and rather boring with being trapped inside, it's wonderful to get some humor to liven things up. What an enjoyable little poem you have created. I will drink to that and go to sleep, perchance to snore.

In our house, it's my wife who snores. I had to move into the spare bedroom to get that good nights sleep.

I agree with Jerry's comments, you have been away too long and I miss your pearls of wisdom in your poetry. Your rhyming pattern is unique and adds to the beauty of the poems creation. Welcome back, Rhonda, we miss you.

Excellent writing and also very informative. I liked very much your rhyming pattern. I love this look at the pleasant and the unpleasant!
