I've never been caught up in Crosswords, Alan, but your poetic paean here is most amusing and enjoyable! But then, I'm also a terrible chess player (perhaps worse than Buster Keaton, who eschewed that form of exquisitely tortuous intellectual challenge himself!) and an absolutely abysmal golfer (my scores are lower than the recorded sub-surface dive record in the Mariannas Trench's Challenger Deep!) so despite my best efforts to be perfect, I'm a complete flop!
