The Ice Cream Adventure

“Stand here.” says Calico Cat
To the Chocolate Brown Lab.
“I will climb upon your back
Then lift Mr. Tab.”

The Lab moved close to the refrigerator
And Calico climbs on top.
“Watch the door Lab, if someone comes
We will have to stop.”

Reaching down a paw
He helps up his friend,
Who climbs on Calico
To reach the door end.

“GO! Someone is coming!”
Mr. Tab jumps down.
Around spins Lab, sliding
As Calico hangs on, making not a sound.

“Oh, here are the keys!
You guys alright?
Come here and I will pet you,
We will be gone most the night.”

Lab wags his tail.
The man pets all three.
Mr. Tab and Calico Cat purr.
Just as it ought to be.

Calico jumps to the window
To see them leave.
“Hurry Lab we can do it now.
This will be a breeze!”

Lab stands his post.
Calico and Tab climb on;
Reaching for the door,
The ice cream just beyond.

The freezer door swings open.
Tab falls back on Calico.
A blast of cold surrounds them
And to the floor they go.

Up on Lab. “Reach! Reach!
The ice cream is so near!”
Mr. Tab turns and says
"There is no ice cream here.”
