Tumble Weed

Tumble Weed

I’m home now
so they say
same ole house of
my
boyhood days

A different song
same ole feelings
here…..the loneliness seems
accentuated
that constant pounding
like striking a drum
over and over
nowhere left to
run
nowhere to hide
every mirror
has a story

all the walls with fresh
cracks
changing seasons, colors blending
days getting shorter, words left broken

I’m a weed that just needs pulling
the apple left…. to long a
hanging……………..

A solider without a fortune
same ole story, different tune
highway humming a softer
song
tires rolling …so
quietly
I can’t stay

 Here
anymore
pain is just
to Unbearable
I’m alone always  was
it’s not good, it’s not bad
it’s just the way


it is
I’m different
in a crooked way

Adjusting, growing toward the
sun
leaving the old
 memories stored
yea I admit
I loved her once
that was then this is now
I do love
Kentucky

And will miss her bad

It's interesting the way you look at familiar things, places, with a different eye. The poem gives a feeling of continuous movement, as if one was trapped in a cage, a familiar one, but one that now seems narrow and confined.
