A steaming cup of black coffee, I pause
Listening
for those long ago mornings, past
A slowly released ensemble, a low rumbling
Symphony
performed by Stumpy and Dakota
stretching and twitching
the new day awake
leaving
memories, of a prior nights' hunt
running those wooded Kentucky
hills, behind
now buried under fallen leaves
a slowy bellowed, exhaled ,yawn
that only, well rested large hounds
release
after,......... a well rested,deserved
sleep
I listen
Intently
to the quiet,humming of the morning
hearing ,instead
softly muffled, quick paced steps
once
across my ceiling
and I know
some sounds, you will always
miss. lost, .lost in the misty
morning
