Bible Study

I was in a state of melancholy [but don’t be alarmed, it’s my constant, normal state now a-days]
usually preceded by an afternoon in court

Rubbing skin with deceiving lawyers
Standing upright against the glare of hungry prosecutors

Me, being ….on the wrong side of the law this time, so
seeking a little solace from the world at large
a brief port in the storm

I called a friend
against my better judgment
and stronger nature

“Hey” I said, a got a few minutes

Well…………“actually no” was the quicken reply

Aaaaaaaaa ok

“I’m busy “came the hurried response,….studying

Oh Ok,…..what’s ya studying I inquired?

“The Bible” came the reply

Now I’m thinking to myself
Isn’t there something about helping a friend in need
or even helping an enemy, indeed
but I’m not as well versed or well read on the Bible
as I should be…

Studying the Bible is a good thing, cause I know you can never know enough about something as important as the word of God

I myself never did all that well in school, or studying for that matter, so it’s somewhat foreign to me
hard to believe that now I love books and reading …….
As much as I now do

But anyway …to show I didn’t hold a grudge
Or even was upset, about being almost hung up on
I answered the phone , on the very first ring

And I even offered to run a errand favor  for free
…expecting nothing

In return
