the older woman who made me a man

then there were the high school girls
and young night shift nurses with their
firm breasts and candy apple mouths
I've had some other women after you
some looking for love or a good time
widows and divorcees, older, younger
business women with brains and money
poets with their flaming hearts and pens
who seduced me well with fiery words
and satisfied me with flaming bodies
you are the only one who owned me
I promised I would never forget you
beauty of your life or sorrow of death
I can still close my eyes and see yours
after all these years without you here
your voice, your scent linger near me
and I miss you, I will always miss you
you were a one of a kind woman
with your unique heart of compassion
and your wide open full force passion
perfectly we were united body and soul
you were my home, my only soul mate
you've always been my love of a lifetime
can there be another? only time will tell
