I work at an Army base where the class 'Suicide Prevention' is an annual mandatory class. This is what I think of it.

Why do you bring back feelings that have died?
Unpleasant feelings I want out of my mind!
Loved ones, friends, gone from me now, you
think talking will bring them back somehow?

Reminding me what I didn’t do to stop
the suicide of a boy so young; a man so distraught
by the absence of his wife; the young man taking his life,
not wanting be a burden to his children and wife?

No, I didn’t stop these things, they happened all too
fast.  But the guilt still rides around my head, one
I’ll never forget thanks to this wonderful class.

In the eyes of our Army so dear, they don’t realize
to some, this will only bring a tear.
Look for signs for persons not acting right.
You never know, you may save a life.

But I would like to thank the U.S. Army
for bringing back these wonderful memories.
They think their eyes are opened wide.
A pity they cannot see.

Mary, this is a compelling story -- grief and suffering lives ended tragically -- the sadness is pervasive -- I bid you love and peace my dear friend -- Jon Michael

I used to take these courses as well while working for National Defence and yes it is not an easy thing to be called on as a suicide intervention officer but on the other hand...if you break through to just one person in your lifetime, and if each person in these courses happens to aid one person...just think of how many lifes may be saved.
Great outpouring of real emotions Mary.

Another deep, touching write, Lacey. In our own strength we cannot stop memories, good or bad, but we can prayerfully ask the Lord to dull them and to help us get through them when they suddenly come marching in to stir up the pains of the past. Another good idea is to rebuke those accusing thoughts since they are not from God.

Be Blessed; be comforted!

Love and Hugs,
Lena

Sucide so I am told by a discharged Marine is in abundance particularly in Iraq. They the military have no social life where even Irag children seek to sneak up and kill you. It is either you die or you kill them. The government does not publisize it however. I think both You and Joe are living saints for what you are doing and have done.
GOD BLESS YOU and JOE.

America’s slide to infamy continues under the careful tutelage of a leadership that’s determined to grab as much as they can before the ship sinks.
