A "Pi" poem.

THE HARBOR

Salty air tingles
senses.
Rugged boats cluster ‘round
dock.
Fishermen heave loads of cargo,
fish snatched from ocean currents in sturdy, patched nets
lugged ashore
by sailors with muscles that bulge
and weathered hands and faces
facing toward breezes
laden with air from beyond
cool blue sheets of water touching pulsating sun.
The same sun draping the harbor in warm blankets
brightening wooden planks, glaring from metal screws
producing sweat on brows while burning already toughened skin
of working men.



A “Pi” poem has 16 lines with the following number of words per line:
3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9, 2, 6, 5, 3, 5, 8, 9, 7, 9, 3. No rhyme.
