...will you join me for Peace and Love?

Poem Artwork

I pray for peace and find
it exists right in my back yard.

Feral/semi-feral cats come to feed
  and water
Squirrels come to feed and water
Birds come to feed and water
right in my back yard.

'Tho they eye one another
with a bit of scepticism
they all have their own sustinance;
no need to harm one another.

They are all welcomed in my back yard,
as there is love provided
in their feed and water,
and they absorb and learn well.

As I watch out my  window I see
a variety of birds feeding at seed-troughs,
and just two feet away I see
Poof (where's Whiffen?) stretched out
serenely, never in stance to pounce.

Soon a lone squirrel joins in the feeding -
squirrels enjoy the sunflower seed.
No birds flitter away in fright,
nor does the cat intimidate.

No need for filled-out forms;
no tax-exemption do I request;
no government red-tape involved...
I follow the Way of St. Francis of Assisi.

"Where there is hatred...let me sow Love
Where there is injury...Pardon
Where there is doubt...Faith
Where there is despair...Hope
"

If we can bring together
these creatures of the air,
these creatures of land and trees,
how much more can be done...with love.

I pray for peace and find
it exists right in my back yard.
And while praying, I remember...
"It is in Giving...that we receive..."

It is the window we create, for life deals its game, we are players, each a voice seeking, so perfect or close, a smile and a memory, peace, a strange word, like silence, love, a sound echo, special lady you are, keep the pen flowing, fighting the fight, I pray for your health and smile... best day you can have, and better.. Amen and Amen! your heart is bursting with ripe fruit in this delicious write Micke. And I have to say that Michele and I have the same kind of experience in our own back yard after work. She loves to feed the birds and the squirrels and even the occasional field rat (that I eventually take care of with my pellet gun). Sometimes 30 or 40 come by for the handouts of grain and nuts and fruit and to visit.
Blessings of love and peace 2U ...

I pray for peace,
and find,
it exists right in my back yard.

My own backyard has taught me many lessons as well, Micke; as have Earth's many wondrous creatures. If only we had more followers of St. Francis, today.

Living with boundaries closed to wild forest we drive carefully around here, young foxes would sit by the road to look at passing cars, cheeky squirrels will dart across with traffic disregard, birds will follow you for a while and between the trees a deer will curiously glance at your curious glance.

Dear Micke, you have truly warmed the cockles of my heart, it was as if you were here, standing next to me, feeling and thinking the same, and now that I am in the bunker typing, St. Francis prayer hangs not far from me. I have tended a little baby Robin, now fully grown and healthy, except for his little leg, his back talon is bend forward, and his ankle is weak so that he walkes like a penquin with one foot, he keeps on pulling on that back talon to straighten it out, I had asked for assistance from a bird vet, but she doesn't do wild birds, and the wild bird care centre, don't garantee to fix it, between string and bubble gum so far no luck. I have let it lose in my backyard paradise for the last week, but guess what, it flies of the highest trees and lands on my head making a racket as robins do, I am not trying to tame it, it's free in the backyard for at least eight hours a day,eats, splashes in the water fountain, etc, it has adopted me though I think, and I am worried, for it gets bitter cold here, I might if it doesn't leave on its own, build him a sanctuary in my studio for the winter. Me thinks St. Francis is laughing at me.
Thanks for the joyful read. Hugs! Jasmin Horst

I have enjoyed the same scene in my own backyard as my daughter has many feeders and water stations and my dog Mac usually lets leave and let live. I'm afraid only when Christ returns will there be peace when all are gathered as one in faith.
