Yesterday I heard the birds call…
calling, calling
calling my father home

They sat in the tree
-the dying one-
and sang their lullabies
lulling, lulling
lulling my father to sleep

I heard the call of the mourning dove
soft and low and
cooing, cooing
cooing our mourning song

Today, I received another call
-and now my father is home
home, home
home in eternal peace

The white wing doves offer their mortal cry daily outside my door for all those lost the day before. Thank you for this poem in dedication to your father.

This poetry is as beautiful and natural as breath, dancing and free.
I'm so sorry for your loss! Blessings to you and your beloved father.
