Cherished memories always warm the heart!

15th street was my street,
maple, chestnut trees lined the block.
as I walked up 15th St.to Buchanan St,
sparrows flew overhead and song.
Pretty sure Buchannan street ended,
at Grand River Avenue,
on the West side of Detroit, MI.,
and change to Canfield street.
This is where my journey started to,
Woodward Avenue and Southward.
On Woodward Avenue near Canfield stood,
the renown majestic Graystone ballroom!
Downtown Detroit here I come!
My eyes bulged at the amazing sights,
and my heart bubbled with joy,
as I walked singing songs,
from the fifties.
Singing How Much Is The Doggie,
In The Window by Doris Day,
and Only You by the Platters!
Many eateries as I past the,
Majestic theater.
Greenfield restaurant always booming.
My destination a movie theater downtown
I walked past the Penny Arcade,
you could play games for a penny,
or nickel take pictures for a quarter.
I walked past the Roxy and the,
Colonial theaters.
and white Castle burgers were,
8 or 10 cent nearly 67 years ago!
Eating out my sack of burgers passing,
the fabulous Fox theater,
and the Palms theater now the Fillmore!
During that time the Fox theater was,
the largest sit down theater in the world, probably still is,
and its architecture is awesome.
Across the St. from Grand Circus park,
was the Adams theater and nearby was,
the United Artist Theater and close By,
Broadway Capitol and the,
Michigan theaters lots of seats also.
On the South Eastern Corner,
of Grand Circus park,
once beamed the Madison theater!
I saw the Tingler staring,
Vincent Price,
at the Broadway Capitol theater and,
Enter The Dragon Which Stared Bruce Lee
at the beautiful Fox theater.
I am honored to have sat in each theater and a few years later,
I was privileged to dance,
in the renown Graystone ballroom,
where Charlie Chaplin once performed!
