Written shortly after 9/11... I debated on sharing this one. Despite the horrific losses, we found the spirit that made us great. Regardless of race, faith, or nationality... we were all touched.
Human Difference
From the binding of terrorism memories held to the forsaken stars- A new day betrothed to those who lived past the loss. None is greater then selflessness of self sacrifice- Without even contemplating at what cost.
Who would have realized such horror with calculation? Laughing at losses beyond hope of recognition: But whom dances with those of inequitable cruelty- Must still be awaiting the blinded hand of justice.
Everyone began this life with a story- Just as everyone will find their ending. Who out there knows the reasons why- That day the many angels Heaven was sending?
Even in the search those slain into victims- Words like hero, bravery , and dignity- For those that stood up and raised arms- Now we may remember and celebrate their strength and gallantry.
Never again shall we look further then ourselves: It is in the loss and tragedy we gain salvation and blessing. We hope the strong remains for the love of goodness, And we pray the goodness remains strong thru the fighting.
The footsteps of the fallen pressed into memory- Surrounding those whom have seen the devastation. How great a person is, that knows the agony of loss- Yet can find the love to rebuild with compassion.
One by one we change the world, But by a miracle and one horrifying order- Through grief we seek peace, we prevail: A united front crossings many borders!
Hi Kristen,I enjoy reading this poem very much.I live in NYC and when 9/11 happened,it was one of the saddest days ever in my city and throughout the rest of the country.Throughout all the tragedy on that day,we came out on top and showed the whole world what our human spirit, the human AMERICAN spirit is all about. All that I heard on the news on that day was unity and togetherness like I have never seen before and probably would never see again in my lifetime.I wish everyday was like that in terms of gathering people from all different backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, and races to join a cause that is much larger than ourselves.Take good care
Sometimes there are no words to express the feelings, emotions locked up inside, yet you have done justice to a day we will never forget. God bless....
This is very well written and describes the feelings and emotions we felt after that horrible day. I do have one suggestion. The print is very small and difficult to read. It's worth it, but a lot of people may skip it because of size, and that would be a shame.

The Borderline Anti-Memory PastBook asks questions a diary does not ask and raises the questions to dialectics and answers them in a way a memory work does not answer questions.
