The weirdest prank I've ever seen
Occurred one year on Halloween.
We kids went out to trick-or treat
And gather goodies good and sweet
It seems our bags were nearly full
And we just sought one trick to pull.
We picked a house with lights quite dim
Being caught? That chance was slim.
We walked right up and rang their bell
And waited for the time to yell
When somewhere there behind the door
A fearsome voice began to roar.
With screams and yelling blasting forth
As for us -- we headed north.
We dropped our candy and we ran
Afraid of one real crazy man.
Decades later, we were taught
Those things weren't bad as we had thought
For when we upped and rang the bell
The voice we thought had come from Hell
Had been recorded on some tapes
By someone there behind the drapes.
They'd wired the player to the bell
And played the trick for which we fell.

i remember being chased by a man, who popped out of the bushes.....then doubled over in laughter........good memory you provoked pax A
