For our crazy wild wonderful feline friend, Lucy.

Poem Artwork
So exceptional
and simple,
the naturalness of an
American shorthairs’ love;
makes us want
to understand better
without stepping on thin ice…
But at times we want more less than more,
less nighttime strife,
less nitpickiness,
less meowing,
more gratitude…
A mad cat tears through the house at night,
The hooting owl in the Eucalyptus annoys her…
.
So impetuous
and trying,
the craziness of an
American shorthairs’ moods;
Makes us want
To adapt more, without
Relinquishing our authority…
But at times we want more less than more,
less fear of hands,
less screen climbing,
less Banzai plant nibbling,
more cuddling…
A miffed cat paws at the kitchen floor,
Her cat box isn’t clean enough for her to poop in…

I've had cats. They've been picky and jumpy. One was cuddly; the other wasn't. Now I have a dog who is also picky and jumpy. But I wouldn't have traded my animals for anything in the world.

enjoyed this piece Richard
I had one just like the one in the picture
Cleo, ran away one day wandered back 3 days later dirty thinner
and staving, we welcome her back with a bath, her warm bed and clean box..... 2 weeks later while watching T.V. she tried to climb the sofa where I was comfortably enjoying my evening and noticed she was unable to climb so I helped her and noticed the reason why.....
she was pregnant........ I spoiled her after that and she had 4 of the most healthy looking kittens
Peace be with you

William

Awww, she sounds quite cute, but you can have her as I will take a dog, though I cannot afford one anymore. Who knows, maybe someday...-e-

What a great tribute poem to your furry friend. Having had many purrrfect friends throughout my life, oft time more cats than humans living in my home, I completely appreciated your adorable pen.

This is an adorable poem about an adorable pet. My daughter has a cat, and she loves her to death but she is one of a kind . She can relate. Nicely penned Richard. I love the way you diversify all your poems to give us an interesting read, every time. Hope all is well in your part of the world, Hugs xo

As a cat lover, I know the ways of cats and you have described "some of them" beautifully in this fine poem. I had a cat that lived to be near 25 years old. The day she dies, Mimi, was momentous, an event we knew was coming and forever remember her antic, frantic ways. Thanks for posting, so I could remember my own cat once again.
