The Tutelage of Threadbare Visions...

Characterization. Observational Poetiprose.

Poem Artwork
All the complex games humans play,
striving for transcendence
and the tutelage
of threadbare visions,
faking virtue to feed the
fires of personal dreams as
they demean the sensitivities of
another’s insights to empower their
own malnourished perceptions.
.
Shadows posing as
creative visionaries,
positioning to arrogate
another’s aspirations.
Discomfort asking the question:
‘Does anyone really care anymore?’
Acuity bearing the axiomatic response,
‘Only if it services ego and elevates visibility
like a High Tower on a distant hill.’
.
So, wisdom asks:
where does sincerity
find a place to take root?
Where does the true seeker
experience inspiration, without
the bane of social bias?
How do scrupulous visionaries avoid
bloated egos condemning their pathways?
Where are the roots of genuineness nourished?
Who do we embrace, and whom do we
avoid in our quest for authenticity?
.
“I don’t understand what you’re saying poet,”
the whiners whine, “the words are too difficult,
the constructs are too conceptually complex.
The imagery is unlike anything I’ve known.
Your use of metaphor is too Byzantine.
It comes across as bafflegab."
‘Gobbledygook’, an old man spits.
Is this a personal allegory about me?
Are you offering me insight into my life?
((((P L E A S E)))) share only simple insights
so I don’t have to think, so I don’t have to feel
any more than my poor wounded heart can take.
.
Shuffling in slippers,
these officious Boo Hoo’s
wield their opinions as weapons,
nitpicking everything they don’t like,
everything they feel is beneath them,
everything they don’t understand,
everything unlike them,
condemning another’s sincerity as bullshit, or as
ephemeral impressions without substance or relevance.
.
These types are those
who judge others in light of
their own deficiencies and defects,
the self-appointed, the self-empowered,
forming opinions before they understand –
like bongo boards balanced on shrimp forks –
they strive for approbation without true inspiration
and bury the seedlings of conception in nitrogen rich
fertilizer, where it burns and withers before any
of it can take root and bear nourishing fruit.

CERTAINLY, THE NEGATIVITIES OF 'FAKENESS' AND 'ARROGANCE', WHICH IS COMPLETELY VOID OF HEAVEN'S 'WISDOM'...WILL NEVER LEAD TO ONE FULLY EMBRACING AN APPRECIATION FOR 'AUTHENTICITY'. FOR, THERE WILL BE AN INABILITY TO UNDERSTAND, APPRECIATE OR EMBRACE THE UNIQUE RICHNESS OF THIS MARVELOUS 'QUILT'...OF WHICH WE 'ALL' ARE A PART. A 'QUILT' THAT MAGNIFIES THE BEAUTY OF EACH FABRIC AND EACH STITCH...THAT HOLDS 'US' TOGETHER. FINE WORK, MY FRIEND...THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

You are being quite depressing in this state of human affairs.

It's as though there are no good and helpful people left in your sphere. Perhaps it's true. But there's always a way to turn what seems to be bad in a positive direction.

Well said and especially poignant. Fortunately, your operative word for me is "judgment". To be confronted with a word, phrase or policy that I might be unfamillar with or find difficult to fully comprehend, well, that's what I thrive on. And no, there isn't an judgement on my part. Expressing a rational arguable position is just part of thinking... I know, few delve into that process, opting instead for an abbreviated few letters to make their "judgement" known. This piece is a powerful message that fortifies people like me, but will cause another two fingers of liquied for others. Keep thinking, Richard. It's the one thing that can't be taken away from us, save certain maladies of aging. Namaste, dear poet.
