She watches from the kitchen window As he stands out in the field A teardrop running down her face She knows the pain he feels All their hopes and all their dreams Lie just beneath the ground They need some help from heaven But a cloud cannot be found They need a little rain She walks out to stand beside him Looks into his troubled eyes Looking back at her, reflections of, The clear blue cloudless sky She says �Try not to worry, Everything will be ok� The dust falls from his open hand And the wind blows it away She�s praying for rain That night as they were turning in He said,� How much more o Lord?� She said �I know it�s hard to keep the faith When the wolves are at the door� She said �Everything will be alright As long as we�re together� �Come lay down here and let me Take your mind off of the weather� Praying for rain He awoke to see the morning light Shinning through her cotton gown She was standing at the window As the rain was pouring down He got up and held her in his arms As they watched the falling rain The answer to her prayers Now written on the window pane The rains finally came � Jack Roberts � October 19, 2003
