second thoughts: "to go down with my ship"?

For Love I wonder: how can I follow this plan? I think I have to go down with my ship Although sensible for some other man Less steadily held in history's grip His common sense seems mere nonsense to me "On to the future! Leave behind the past!" They say to me yet how can I agree? how sad... I think love was the original sin....it causes so many to give up and abandon themselves and cry out "in the name of love!"...To me, it's as sad as the many outrages done in the name of God. People will do anything if they believe they're doing "what's right."

god IS love. And many heartwrenching acts are done under the banner of either title.
