"Why? I cannot say nor do I know"

Poem Artwork

...So Here I Go

I have forgotten my life somehow
I would remember but... better not
Time knows no delay except decay
I am not who I was (if I was
Ever even anyone) at all

I was someone else but I forgot
Just who that was who was long ago
Lost in the service of some lost cause
Yet I played my part however small

Why? I cannot say nor do I know

I was young then when I went away
Back when life was long and time was slow
Another lifetime another day
Too far in the past to see from now

I am uncertain as to whether
I could even find the words to say
Alone now how it was together
Before those pieces of yesterday
Shattered (if they mattered) anyway

They say "life goes on" ...so here I go

So right you are Steve old friend, we writers and poets are a hardy breed and feed off controversy, strive, love both good and bad, and the way life treats us. Without these things we would lose our topics to write about.

The river of life (and time) does not wait. Wise verses, Stevie. Thank you for sharing them. Love and peace to you,

Sounds sad but somehow to one degree or another, every man's problem.
You ended well. Or is it the beginning? So here I go.
God Bless,

This was a sincere and deep piece. Like a good book, the first line reels you into the center of this. \/VVV\/ <-------- The Rottie Smile!

From time to time we remembered bits and pieces of our yesterdays, that we have a feeling that it didn't happen in this life time. I have thoughts like this all the time.

...and then I would think to myself, "Wait a minute, did it really happen in tis lifetime?"

Weird stuff going through our heads sometimes.

A very thought-provoking write, Steven!
