Fly away home birds to the sky
Death never asks nor answers why

My father could not bother to
Have anything at all to do
With his strangely quiet baby
Now and then my mother maybe
No feeling no dealing with me
So he agreed to disagree
And threw us both into the street

Into disorderly retreat
Back to where my mother began
With her own mother as before 
Giving birth to this child this man
Who came home late to leave no more
Alone and broken just as she
Was in my heart a weeping sore

And after all these years here I
Bury them all now as I die
