Poem Artwork

Simple things that come to light
Like fireflies dancing in the night
Rheumatoid fingers of the great oak
Gnarled with time that gently poke
The mist of fog upon the land
And common grounds of God and man
Pondering on this nature trail
Words that come and never pale
Beauty in this peaceful marsh
Wrapped in arms of fog that wash
City smut from lids left heavy
Feet that whisper pads to levy
Wages free with no pretext
Peace and quiet, none to vex
Imaginings that come and go
Let it in and out it flows
Breaths so pure
On these moist grounds
Crickets kiss their legs for sound
Ghost of the woman, hair of moss
Draping in grays, nothing the cost
To witness this canvas
Of nature sublime
Before it is lost
From wages of time

We all need to wake up and take heed to the devastation of the beauty around us for soon it may be gone. Beautiful, Love, Pierre.

Love the enduring nature of your imagery here, Susan. I was walking the Dorset cliffpath today and came across a stone seat which someone had erected as a memorial. On it were engraved words from Dylan Thomas: "Time passes. Listen. Time passes". Like this poem, we do well to pay attention, watch and listen while we still can... TY and bless you, Kate xx

Wages of time? Thoughts of meaning chase this intriguing noun phrase, each jostling for the prominence to be heard.

Pastoral, ethereal imagery

Sublime. She is the last ray of sunlight lost, but will come to me in the cool breeze of the night.

Your instant rhyming and choice of thought
Creates envy of an ability I have naught.
Your memories of Savannah haven't been wiped out, yet
in that Tampa heat and humidity and hustle/bustle.
Good to read you, again. - Bill
