Poem Artwork

A flash of pure white caught my eye
Across the bedroom window I caught it's flight
I sped to my office overlooking the lake
There she was, for goodness sake
A beauty in porcelain, a testimony to nature
The Snowy Egret in full stilted stature
Regal and poised, stalking her prey
What a generous contrast to this gray dreary day
Yellowed beak chiseled and legs like a ballerina
Steady as an artist's hands adding a china white patina
Then quick as lightening she dove under a lily
Arose like a prima donna with her lunch...such a pity
The little frog's eyes bulged from his underneath
As his feet disappeared inside of her beak
Dining around this lake full of feasts
Agile as ever on stilted feet
This beautiful bird with a pale underbelly
I named her a favorite...the lovely Grace Kelly
I see her now on a regular basis
She recognize me in most cases
She acquiesces so proudly, nods with her eyes
Then gently she hovers into the blue skies.

The butterfly symbolizes your ability to make a difference.

The flap of a butterfly's wings in Brazil can set off a storm in Texas. Isn't that an amazing statement? Physicists call this theory "The Butterfly Effect" to explain how the breeze produced by a butterfly's wings could set off a series of reverberations that over time have a tremendous affect on weather patterns thousands of miles away. Now imagine the impact of millions of butterflies...

If this works then think what harmony can do from one end of the earth to another.

What a lovely nature poem, Susan..I saw one of these beautiful birds when I was in Florida at my friend's house. There is a nature preserve right behind her property. I just love the way you talk about nature, it makes the reader feel as though they are right there along side of you.
Peace, love, and light,

I love egrets; every time I see them, I smile, think back to when I was in Louisiana. Saw bunches of them there! See them here too, as well as herons flying in our skies. Magnificent to see! Very well penned, Suaan; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Absolutely beautiful, Susan, I love egrets. Karen and I always say, whenever we see one, "I egret to inform you, there's some egrets!" Just a silly little thing we do...enjoyed this one.

Now: imagine the chaos created by an egret's wing...millions of egret wings...

Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
