Dreaming of the Girl in the Park

Walking with friends across grass in the park

She pulled up her shades and gave me a wink

Red nails red lips and her starry eyes blue

I sat alone with my hat at the picnic table.

She came back across the green grass alone

Sat down beside me saying not a single word

Tattoos gracing ankle and wrist, a rose and a fish

Locked her penetrating heavenly eyes on mine.

Boldly parting lips and legs, in her hand was mine

I tried to speak making weird ugly sounds

We walked still quiet to her red 63 Corvette

Taking wild flight into the deep dark night.

By morning sun rising we were back in our clothes

In the park sitting once more at the picnic table

I looked at the rose and I looked at the fish

She locked eyes and said, “Last night was the best!”
