Oh, the image complementing this poem takes me back to familiar winter sights viewed from the window of the cottage where I once lived (sigh).
The earth (at least our side of the bed)rests beneath the starch white sheet of winter, leaps up at the first crack of spring, slips into its summer gown and after a quick shower beneath the suns rays -glows!
I'm tempted to quote that great philosophor, Bambi, but I must refrain.

I love your comparative theme of peaceful rest and sleep of nature under winter's covers as compared to the human need for fire and blankets and warmth in their repose, Anita. Brrrrr does this take me back to those New England winters and an abundanvce of snow we rarely see here in Tennessee.
