My baby blew me away with this write....I was so amazed...
To All The Great Soldiers
You try to fool yourself
You believe that you are fine
And yet you are being smited
By a power so divine
Your death will go unnoticed
Of that I’m sure
Because behind your suicide
There comes 1 million more
They taunt and torture us
Until nothing is left
Except to turn
To the last choice
That option is simply death
Our hopelessness and sorrow
Stands by the soldier’s side
And yet we stand in awe
At their self righteous suicide
Will you listen to the gunshot?
Can you hear them scream?
All will soon be dead
To me that’s what it seems
Will you listen to the gunshots?
Can you hear the mother’s cries?
Gunshots, protesters, suicide
Our countries hope as it dies
To all those soldiers who have lost their lives I say goodbye

Reviews of "T o All The Great Soldiers -A Poem By My 12 Yr Old Daughter"
Out of the mouths of babes and young people... We are all the same size spiritually, no distinction between adults and kids in the arenas of the soul... that is abundantly shown here by your daughter's grasp of the spiritual realities. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this before now.. I sincerely thought I had... I've certainly read it a few times and been awed. Bless you both... our children have an unnerving habit of speaking back at us what we ourselves have sown into them... You are BOTH brilliant, perspicacious and beautiful young women to me... I drove recently one very early morning across the tops of the heathland down here in Dorset where our largest military training grounds are... so very peaceful, tranquil beautiful... one day here, watching bunnies and the sun rise over the heather, bracken and the backs of fallow deer... the next day, bleeding in an explosion in Iraq... Who can fathom it as being a necessity of peace-loving life. Thank you for clear eyes. Love Kate xx

It is good to be back my friend and to be greeted with such a powerful piece.
A child sees life mercifully in the clear light of day that our adult senses otherwise blur with the gathering mists of life.
There is a perception enscripted within this ode that defies those who deny what is threatening our way of life at present. They do so partly because they are detached a million miles away from the horror of front line action.
We sleep soundly at night, and go about our daily business in relative safety, yet how much thought is given to those brave souls who are fighting to protect this privilege? I confess I don't give enough. This moving poem has jolted me out of this apathy.
They are not just brave soldiers, but as the title states, they are indeed GREAT SOLDIERS.
I for one am grateful to each one of them. God bless them.
Amazing. War seen through a mature womans eyes, let alone a sprog.
I guess boys are diffo, almost live to die from the off. Whilst a girl pic's up dolls, plays nurses, tea parties etc, Boys are playing bang bang shot shot you're dead I'm not...
Yet thanks to the men who have sacrificed their lives, otherwise we would all be speaking Russian and living in tyranny.....
Please give your daughter the biggest (((HUG))) imaginable, for remembering the pain, the ultimate cost of serving our nation. Thank her for me; this is beautifully poignant. As a Veteran, I felt this one shiver down to my soul with its power.
A truly powerful poem. We routinely cheer our soldiers off to war, and then we routinely neglect their needs when they return home. This must end, and I truly hope many read your daughter's heartfelt poem.
Yes blown away says it Anita! I would be in awe of her....so sad that she has to be aware of such conditions we face in this world, but I applaud her ability to get it out in such brilliant fashion. Like mother like daughter! How much did your breast size grow?;-)
In a way it is sad that at 12, your daughter has a grasp on the high price that has been paid for freedom and that she feels that most losses go unnoticed by the masses. She is right on both counts, I believe, and in understanding this, I hope that she will be one of the people, who through her life's accomplishments, earns all that she has been granted. Excellent job!!! You have every reason to be proud, Anita. Thank you for sharing and tell your daughter to keep 'em coming.
Take care,
Sherry
Fantastic write Anita and you have every reason to be proud, for a twelve year old to have such a deep and compassionate understanding of the atrocity of war...wow. Great job please tell her for me.
