A Father writes of his tender love to his little daughter... they be so precious in our sight... all of them whether a girl or a boy... ~Lily of Lough Neagh~

Poem Artwork

Fairy child of mine so fair
yer golden locks  and eyes which dare
my little imp o' chereb stock
ye melt mine eyes whilst ye frolic

I know ye well and rather be
always in yer company
but oft to market I must go
to buy our bread and make our home

A cobbler be a trade so fine
with leather wrapped a gem in time
protecting tiny fairy feet
so ye can dance upon the street

Now o' darlin' child of mine
I kiss so sweet a lock of thine
Let Mummy make some pudding sweet
Of sugar plums delightful treats

Let Mummy take ye for a walk
down cobblestones of ginger rock
and oft unto the fair ye go
to see a pony blue eyes shall glow

Winds blowing gently through yer hair
the smells of popcorn, candied pears
and whence ye home my little one
filled with laughter and with fun

I'll come a walking up the path
delites to hear my wee child laugh
with impish eyes and smiles to last
my riches brought from  my wee lass

The innocence of a child is like the water that springs forth from an underground spring bringing delight. Lovely and sweet verses that remind me of the child in my dream that I have described in my short story posted here at AD, "Daddy's Girl." Thank you for sharing this gift, Carol. Love and blessings of all that is good,

xo Regis

I noticed I have touched a few souls here, thank you to all my friends and readers... when I write I write from the heart and feel what I write... everything is with loving emotions and not just words to impress... I want others to experiences these beautiful feelings and apply it in their own life in a positive manner...

Thank you again

I have a son who is precious to me, but with everything you write, like this beautiful tribute from father to daughter, you can see it comes from your heart. I agree with the previous reader, you can feel the warmth and sincerity in your poetry. It's not words splashed around you are a good writer.

Is there anything you can't do? You give all of us warmth in everything you write Lilly. You make me think of my own little girl. Thanks for this

Such a sweet and wonderful tribute to the wee ones, as you said be it boy or girl. Still, there is something about an innocent (are they ever?) little girl, especially to dear old dad, she has him wrapped around her finger the day they bring her home from the hospital. I dearly loved this my friend, and misted my eyes for many different reasons.

If only my grandchildren were that lucky. I would give them the world but I don't get to see them. My love for them is no less for them than this poem reflcts. Touching write

Stay well and keep writing
