-- Another Day, Another Hour -–

John Herlihy

Another day to give my life its chance,

Another hour to enjoy that last dance,

Another hope my frayed coat to repair,

Another dream to lay waste my despair,

Another joy to extinguish all my sorrow,

Another desire to return what I borrow,

Another promise that only I should fulfil,

Another betrayal a sure misery to instill,

Another loss to embody what I may miss,

Another love to remember that first kiss,

Another anywhere to fill the empty space,

Another somewhere to find a true place,

Another possibility in my life to employ,

Another maybe to fill my days with joy.

It's been my experience that saying "only one more..." day, hour, minute, chance, is to keep going, sometimes a mere step at a time. When we stop saying "only one more..." we stop living.

We seem to be on the same wave length tonight. This simple, yet profound piece of reflection is so needed by those out there growing old with bitterness unresolved. This was a special read for me. Thank you, John, for posting such an arresting thought journey.

I love the repetitive word another, it feels like a mantra and a recipe for inner joy, Well written dear John.
