-- Not only with Sight that One Sees -- By John Herlihy It is not only with sight that one sees, Wind caresses the face with its breeze. It is not only with ears that one listens, Light of inner music in the soul glistens. It is not only with the nose that one smells, Earthly scents of celestial perfumes foretells. It is not only with touch we feel as if caressed, Love fuels the beating of a pure heart blessed. It is not only with tasting we taste life’s flavor, The entire life an experience that we must savor. It is not only with the body we our lives stole, We are animated by spirit breath in our soul. It is not only with the mind that we reason, All of nature reflects its mood in each season. Simply running through our senses we have and use, sometimes unconsciously, every day hour and minute of our lives. Even while we are sleeping they are at work. When we call it, intuition, it's often one of our sense warning us what we think is real may not be.

I like the brevity and profound nature of this poem.
