-- What We Conceive --

by John Herlihy

What we conceive,

A seed grown.

What we believe,

A thread sewn.

What we deceive,

A deceit known.

What we grieve,

We suffer alone.

When we let go,

We fall into despair.

When we know,

We fall into prayer.

When we don’t know,

We simply stare.

When we glow,

We feel aware.

I know what I seek,

Always hoping to find.

I stand by my belief,

With its feeling kind.

Time flies week by week,

Questions on my mind.

Into the unknown I peek,

Even though I feel blind.

One of your shorter, but more intense, poems. I really like the images and thoughts provided by your words. Particularly how we conceive to be deceived.
