A poem about winter and its effects on nature and animals........

Poem Artwork

Through the mountain pass the eagle flew

Recording in its minds eye all it beheld

Yellow, Browns, Golds, and Reds

Green threw in here and there

Damp leaves upon the ground

Chipmunk sticks his head from his mound

then tucks it back in less he be found

Mamma bear is foraging fast to get the sweet honey while it last

Must eat her fill,

before the first big chill

Nestle down for a long winters nap

Snow banks soon all over the land

Baby cubs will come

nursing momma,

yes, they'll think she's just grand!

Fish rushing to and fro

creek running sluggishly slow

male and female

with little one's in tow

Yes, they all know

soon ole man winter will

touch his finger to their land.

The Buck's in rutt

Doe's flashing white tails

ready for babys come spring

Hunter's creeping through

 the woods

Somehow its just understood

Only the strong and fast

survive

It's the way of things living

out in the wild

And the Eagle fly's mile after mile

Dusky mountains, grey blue

Misty in the distance

as if weeping to wash away

what was

to prepare for Mother Nature's splender

Yellow's, brown's, red's and gold's

a little green threw in here and there

Damp leaves falling upon the ground

the nip in the air

say's

Yes, he'll soon be there

you can smell it in the air

as another year is past

and nature renews again come spring

Great visuals in this Winter poem and its effects on the critters that must face it year after year.
