She was both a lion and a paw's caress
and yes she was my mother true and true
Today I'd give anything for just one bless
from her tender warm hands, her curlicue
When I was a child I tagged alongside her
for she was my sun and moon, my voice
The things she taught me I cannot inter
as I sink a memory, my eyes grow moist
The phone stands silenter then ever
as I recall her messages of old
Inside my heart I hang on to forever
to that mother made of diamond-gold
She was both a lion and a paw's caress,
Yes she was a Mother through n' through.
What a sweet tribute to your dear mother. Mystic, it is evident that you and your mother had a very strong bond, and that bond had brought forth so many good memories. We will always miss our mothers.
I remember shortly after my mom passed away, I was still thinking of picking the phone every night to talk to her, and then I realized that she was no longer on the other end of the line and I would never hear her voice again. It was a heartbreaking moment. It took me so many years to come out of my depression - Ten years to be exact. Actually, my depression began when my daddy passed away in 2004. I just didn't feel like doing anything because there was nobody that I would really like to impress. But after all these years, I know I have to pick myself up again... somehow. Life goes on.
Simply beautiful thoughts and words concerning you beloved. To those who remember a saint-like mother mere words are writ to shine her inner beauty and her everyday feelings of respect and love. This is special.
The beloved memories of one's mother will always be raw and near no matter how long since the time of her passing. As a poet, I still write about my mother. Your emotion shines through today's poem.
