I knew a great deer !
powerful , with its twisted horns
gave him royal splendor ,
he knew the immense forests
and all the tops of the mountains ,
loved the sunrise and sunset
loved the shocking wild
of each stone , plant, flower,
had many puppies,
some were able to grow
others had seen them die,
short life of little fawns ,
my old man knew the deer ,
his cruelty , his hunger for meat,
but he had always managed to save himself.
Now he was now old deer
and that sunset blood
illuminated his tired eyes ,
how many times he had observed
the sun rise and the sun set ,
and was always like the first time ,
friend the wind that caressed him
winter and summer,
the fresh water of the stream where he drank ,
rocks slippery and steep slope
of each mountain.
One autumn day he saw a hunter
cautiously looked at the man ,
little more in the two small fawns , playing cheerful ,
the old stag went public with his bellowing
” Kill me! neglect the puppies ! “
seemed to say , with its long roar ,
coming out in the open, in front of the hunter ,
The man turned and looked surprised
the great deer load of meat!
a great flash …
and a noise that sounded
throughout the forest , small deer fled ….
everything was
finished .
