While driving through the marsh one day
I saw a turtle on his way
Across the road so steadily
Not fast and so I readily
Put four way flashers on
Stopping the car I quickly ran
To save this turtle from a van
That would have killed this gentle "chap"
Got him to safety in a snap
As I was looked upon
By drivers who watched what I did
I felt just like a little kid
Saving this turtle from a fate
I'm glad that I was not too late
To get him to the pond
To my surprise no anger showed
By traffic which I know I slowed
Instead they rolled their windows down
They clapped instead of giving frown
I smiled then I was gone
Thank you all for loving God's creatures as much as I do! Snakes, wolf spiders,and all of the creatures put here on earth serve a purpose I love them all. Again, Thank you!
Loved this Jane! I remember as a child saving nature's creatures too. Hahaha....you are one of a kind, I am sure the turtle thanks the hands that saved his life!

Perfect and as it should be. We close a road here for a few days to let the turtles cross. We need to learn as a species that we are not supposed to be "dominant." Love and best wishes to you, Jane.

I saw a poor armadillo run over in Texas. It was screaming out in pain and leaping about. I had never seen such a creature. A driver in a van/truck stopped and shot it.
Folks in Ohio are much kinder than some other places where any delay in traffic brings out the worst in people. By the way, thanks for saving my little friend's life.
Cool poem Jane. Had run into a few just like you. They slowly crossed the street and needed a little help. Once I took one who seemed very frightened. So I put him in a pond and he quickly raced away.
