I have never seen a dog shed so much

All over the hardwood floors and under the hutch

There isn’t anything these hairs don’t touch

The multi colored hairs, Jake does not lack

White, Tan, Brown and Black

We have nick-named him Sir Scratch A Lot

I truly don’t know how much hair I have fought

The weekend ritual that can’t be ignored

Heaven forbid, I should get bored

This is his biggest and only flaw

On my new (deep purple) duvet cover,  he loves to sprawl

Winter, summer, spring and fall

Jake sheds through them all

I didn’t cook for the holidays as I normally did

Because the airborne dog hair I cannot rid

And I would have been mortified

If a member of my family found a hair in their food

I would have literally come unglued

I ‘Do Not’ believe that everything tastes better with dog hair in it

But in reality it is funny,   a bit

Jake is our baby and beloved friend

Hair and all, our Godsend.
