Finding I have more memories than I did realize...

Poem Artwork

Remembrances Continued Again…

Snow forts on Pleasure Avenue,

Submarines under the porch,

War games on the beach,

Army men and tanks in the sand next to home,

These things I do remember, wherever I roam…

Looking for Rags (our dog then) during a break in the storm,

He ran away again, every time he did get out,

Homes ripped up from the ground,

Cousins place leaning like the Tower of Pisa,

Boardwalk with no boards, only the cement pilings left standing,

The merry go round gone, its horses surround our home,

All from the power of Nature, a three day northeast storm in 1962…

Playing games at friends homes, Terry and Mike Joe & Chuck & me,

Watching the waves in winter breaking over the promenade,

Winter storms the best, what kind of neat stuff will we find washed up next,

Snow storms back then seemed more intense,

Maybe because we were smaller & had less sense,

Out in every type of weather, never fearful of the ocean or Mother Nature…

We have less baggage in childhood and thus feel with more intensity. Thank you for sharing these memories with us, Ed. They have provoked many in myself. Love and peace. Regis

This is a historic grand. "Remembrances Continued Again" delivers its story with art on the rhythm of a heart that has experienced life in all its emotions.

Dear Ed,

That 1962 storm sure sounded horrific !
Oh these wonderful childhood memories,
and where "fear" was a foreign word.

Great write Ed.

Warm hugs

The best poetry in the world is filled with memories. This allows other's to reflect upon their own when a good poet writes like this.
Thank you.

Excellent!!!… Ed, I enjoy taking these journeys back in time with you. They are really neat. Every summer from 64-69 we went to the Jersey shore for three weeks. What a great time we had together. It seems like only yesterday. Of course once I was old enough Wildwood was always a favorite summer destination. I’ll always have wonderful memories of Jersey, even though I went through Boot Camp at Ft. Dix in the winter. lol. Never did realize it got cold there too. lol. I guess too much MD 20/20 and all the other crazy things we did as young kids, made me forget just how cold it got on that side of the U.S. lol!!!… But those cold winds ripping through ones soul helped wake you up at 4:00 a.m. reminded you of just how cold it really gets. Peace thru the memories of having good times.

I spent summers of 62-65 in Sea Isle City. There was an orphanage there and I use to pick up a lot of the female residents and take them into the amusement park. In 65, they closed the beach in August because of Sharks, I think they thought that I was dangerous.
