It’s the middle of the night,
Dad & I are deep in conversation,
He in his sleepwear & I in my usual attire,
We do converse for hours, even about the state of the nation…
Honestly though, dad does most of the speaking,
As I am more of a quiet kind of guy,
I move my paw every now and again,
Just to let dad know awake I still am,
As well every so often I let out a big sigh…
He sometimes does speak of things I know not,
He reminds me of how I am the best puppy,
Sometimes he even cries, but my shoulder is right there,
Giving my daddy all the comfort he needs,
After all, daddy is the one that of me feeds…J

i really liked the part about lifting a paw to let daddy know im still awake... i read that and i smile while thinking back to all those nights my brothers and i tried to stay awake all night and how much effort it was to laugh at the jokes or respond to the "is anyone awake" questions... poor rufuz
