The picture is of a boat similar to ours, but alot newer...

Poem Artwork

I was still quite young,
To me my dad’s boat was fun,
Forty-eight foot Bertram,
Early into the ocean we went out,
Heading into the rising sun…

Dad rented out the boat to anglers,
They were of fishing, wranglers,
We stayed out for a couple of days,
They got drunk, never caught much,
But they had their fun, as did I…

My favorite part was seeing the whales,
Swimming free & eating small fish with scales,
Humpbacks then were abundant,
And their nighttime “song” put me to sleep,
The adults never noticed them,
They were only interested in fishing for something they could keep…

Sometimes when everyone else slept,
I snuck up and got on the stern deck,
The whales would come alongside,
While I fed them with the caught fish,
The adults never remembered what they caught,
So never did little Eddie either doing so, get caught…

Now that's a wonderful memory from childhood. Not many people have had the experience of feeding whales on the high seas.
