A Member of the Pod...

Funny the memories that seem to come forth while we sleep...

 As a member of the pod, I played and slept on the bottom of the sea,

Then came the time I had to become the human me,

There I played with other kids, on the surface, in the waves,

Of my time with the pod, I had no memory,

I’d only learned quite late, of the memories I now remember.

 

I always had the penchant for being in or near the sea,

As a human kid we surfed, swam, scuba-dived, & boated,

To our ocean roots, though we did not realize, we were quite devoted,

Our roots, yes, came from the sea.

 

The painful part cam e as we grew old,

Our love of the ocean and desire to be near her,

Waned the older we got, less than when we were young,

We seemed to become a lot less bold,

Though we always remained of our Mother Ocean in love,

We were always considered by her, her loving children.

A lot of truth in your words. Dolphins seem to have a good time, whatever they are doing. But I wonder how older dolphins feel. I'll bet they ache and feel like they are going to drown one day. After all, like us, they breathe air.
