Bangles (aka churi or Choodi) are traditional ornaments worn mostly by South Asian. It is tradition that the bride will try to wear as many small glass bangles as possible at her wedding

shining glass bangles klinkering sound soft skinned young damsels sparingly adorn rolling freely on her wrist golden tinted cicular of suitable bangles a set on her wedding green, glazing new one by one breaking Till honeymoon is through witness to happenings her day to day routine green red and blue glass rounded color her worn world the glitter,the sound beautfying delicate wrists decorated behaviour gives bangled identity FORMULATED feminine power she weans magic hands glow matching attire her durga moment gold tinted,striped glass bangles circle smooth skin shine , GOODNESS and venom In equal measure The languish,The pleasure All in one shower Holding on to bangles her children play many fallen prey Bare handed WHEN she comes Broken bangles, set her free From bondage Now widow a stand alone feature of the she in her see !

You left me wondering. First, about the "breaking" of the bangles during the honeymoon. A tradition I'm not familiar with. They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find I woman's arms, wrists and hands exquisite without decoration. But I believe, in India, the number of bangles probably stands for wealth or status in a tiered society.

At the end, you refer to the widow being "free" of the bangles, as though they were a burden through much of a married woman's life.
