The tension between life and death. Isolation brings comfort, knowing tears are universal, yet often hidden.

Poem Artwork

She made a bed
Among the coral
Water clear
Sunlight

No voice
No sound

Unified a soul
Once so split
Once so angry
She bashed herself
On glass and brick

Burned by struck match
Or lighter's flame
How much pain
Could be enough

Now finds herself
Whole
Suffering receding
A silence of vision

A truth of grave consequences
What next
How fragrant this slight fear
Eyes glazed over
Sensory flood

Here all are tears
Wept by the billions
In unmarked tombs
Scurrying about
Slaves of flesh pods

And what could she choose
A bag of stones
Drawing her down
Ever so gently

Hello Danae - nice poem with sub-meanings - our burdens in life we carry can be like stones. Our secrets and also be like stone that attempt to bury us from our selfs. Thank you for sharing do continue - great work.

A deafening silence of a tormented soul. As if pain, self inflicted, is her only realisation that she is alive. Yet within the sufferance there is a peace that's come by acceptance.

My imagery goes wild as I read. So does my confusion.

Like the explosion of perpetual waves, tears become mammoth in this multi-layered allegory of agony and pleasure's hide and seek, allowing momentary identity and passage beside the poet. Passion's lexicon is alive and well in this sensitive write.

A poignant, meaningful, and expressive write that grasps the soul, awakening thoughts and emotions. Thank you for sharing, Danae. Love and best wishes to you,
