When my name is called
Two feet refuse to move
Things don't seem right
This business of my being
In this monumental place
Where so many of letters
Have spoken and moved on
Respecting others I walk
To the hand carved podium
Arrange my papers
Look out to smile
Eyes and voice synchronize
Allowing me to read an
Original poem of mine
To appreciative poetry lovers
Members and guests of
Georgia's Poetry Society
I read it without stumbling
And a generous applause
Propels me to sit again
In this hallowed hall of
The University of Georgia
While another reader is called
I wonder almost aloud
How in God's name did the
Mind and body I use ever get here
Well done William. I am sure you deserved all the applause. I don't think I would be able to stand in front of people and read my poetry, so I admire you for that as well as for the poetry you write.
Take care
Sue
Your talent and word artistry is obviously much aprreciated in the Romantic STate of Georgia. Keep on knocking them dead with your messages from the heart, soul and mind.
I remember my first poetry reading and how I wondered if it were possible to feel so small and still be able to deliver... I made it through as I know you did... and Congratulations, by the way..))
