In days before Christmas memories begin to play
among warming hearths and whispering cold winds,
reminding us ever that all along our way
the many joys shared with family and friends.
In days before Christmas lights start to appear
their colors to spread among early dark nights,
breaking through raindrops to shower in cheer
and make more the merrier those cold winter nights.
In days before Christmas warm scents fill the air
with apple and pumpkin, cinnamon and sugar,
tantalizing our pallets with delicious ideas
that bring joy to tables and satisfies our hunger.
In days before Christmas we think of our loves
their place in our lives and happiness they give,
wanting so eagerly to gift them something of
a wish made in the moments of lives that they live.
In days before Christmas ornaments hang on trees
candles are lighted to glow among tinsel,
in days before Christmas we once again want to believe
in that somebody, somewhere, who makes life magical.
In days before Christmas we wonder and relish
about olden days that fueled our aspirations
recalling, regaling our most treasured keeps
becoming once more our holiday traditions.
For the past two years (2006-2008) The Bridge of Silver Wings has earned a name for itself both as a series of poems published in different e-zines and as a book first published in 2007.
