Poem Artwork

Collaboration by Peter Paton and Huda Orfali

The blood stained flag of the Holy Cross

Flutters defiantly on the walls of Holy Jerusalem

And the Crusaders of Christ will die for their cause

To drive the infidels from the Holy Land

The blood stained flag of the Muslim faith

Flutters defiantly in green waves of hope

The soldiers of Islam will die for their cause

To drive the infidels from the Holy Land

Hostilities began, and death took its mighty toll

The landscape was filled with crimson blood

The stench of death was overpowering in the air

And fear and dread filled friend and foe

Then Wisdom shone on Saladin the Great

And the Crusader King acted with Grace

A Counsel of Peace brought the warring sides together

And a pact was sworn, to share the Holy City

Rivers of blood that flowed in the past

Are forgiven forever, restored by trust

Hearts that bled are healed with a touch

Of love that extracts the good from the bad

Peace comes from heaven above

And divine love will not be denied

For God doth send deliverance and love

In the shape of two angels from warring sides

Ultimately beating swords into ploughshares. I like this overarching perspective that you two in collaboration bring. It gives hope and vision that there MAY be a future peace based in spirituality for the "ordinary" people of the world who just want to collaborate and not coerce. You are an awesome combination. Exceptional work..indeed a grand message..
I was in in Jerusalem last Oct..fascinating mystical city..the air is thick with history and heavy with hate yet..there hovers above a certain energy that cannot be denied..it's almost tangible..

Peter and Huda,

We look at the ordinariness of our daily lives and say, "there's no future in that," but that's exactly where our future is if we can see and grab hold of the many opportunities that are here. A wonderful collaboration to the two of you. Thanks for the specific information and sharing in such a natural way with us who need to know.

Strange how so many seem to consider the portrait you present here as an impossibility while ignoring that it has in fact been a reality. KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is a beautiful reminder that Peace and Love are still valid choices in the world here and now.

Ahh, the history of Jerusalem, the geo-political center of the earth. Such a sorted and powerful past, and, in light of Biblical prophecy, what a powerful future is coming for this city. The Eighth Gate/Golden Gate is what intrigues me most. There is a most stunning promise attached to it.
Enjoyed this offering.

Another masterpiece by my favorite poets.

Rivers of blood that flowed in the past
Are forgiven forever, restored by trust
Amen to that calling.

There are many lessons to be learned from your collab and wonderful work together.
Maybe next time you guys can work with me in this Kingdom of Heaven that you created on the Den
God bless you, Huda & Peter
