The Cowboy’s Sermon

By: Fee

She looked him up and down

And didn’t seem to like what she saw

The faded jeans, worn boots stubble

The man seemed just outside the law

He sat down in the last seat there

Beside this lady draped in prayer

Held his old stetson in his hands

All this pious lady did was glare

Excuse me sir this is God’s house

Not the place for the likes of you

By the looks of you I’d say your ill

You can’t die here in this pew

The cowboy only turned and smiled at her

Then rose slowly up from his seat

Well thank you ma’am for caring and I guess

the Lord don’t mind where I rest my feet

I bet he has a special place for you as well

Perhaps someday there again we’ll meet

Now I must tell you a story though

You know only the good die young

Well Ma’am I may live to be a hundred

Just like the song was sung

I’ve traveled down some winding trails

Worked dusk till dawn in soaring sun

Yet when the day was finally over

I drank my whiskery straight and neat

I loved a lot of women in my time

Who swept me off my tired feet

So yea I guess I’m not Angel material

Just an honest cowboy doing what I can

But I don’t judge nobody else in this world

I heard that’s the job not for us Ma’am

He turned and started walking down the aisle

The woman’s eyes glared at his back

When the whole church stood up and applauded

She knew he had the faith she lacked.

Another great story told to inspire your readers, Fee! So true are your words; if you can't find peace in God's house, where else can you?

As soon as she commented, my guard went up. If we can't find acceptance in a church...where can we go? Great story-telling, Fee. You had my attention from beginning to end! Love and Hugs,
Sheila

What a loving cowboy I see and feel! in my spirit as I read your ending and couldn't stop SMILING!
HE taught her a thing or two...
Which is how God works, sending in his own...
Faith! I knew she was wrong in my heart all along, atleast this cowboy followed his heart in and knowing he had a place to rest his worried head!
Love this story poem sweet Fee! The picture of you, is a Gallant Man, a cowboy of much curiousity holding his guitar masterfully!

A very revealing tale and told in such a delightful manner. Goes to show we can learn something new or maybe something forgotten to keep us on the right path....

Be always safe,

You didn't said that he could lasso his own shadow...because he could, but that poor woman...I bet she hadn't one.

Good Morning Fee,
I Have Ran Into People Like Her (The Church Ladies) pfft!
I Totally Love The Ending As She Realized "She knew he had the faith she lacked" Many People Use The Church In A False Way, It's A Shame To Judge & Claim Superiority Like That
I Love Your Photo!! :)

You preached a powerful sermon, Cowboy. :) Judge not, lest ye be judged ... AMEN. And thank you. You'll reach many and poke 'em with your spurs - which we need to git a move on and change our ways. Your best, Fee, your BEST.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *applause*
