They say some illnesses can actually make you smell things that aren't there like burnt toast...and for some reason that is what I was thinking of when I wrote this...

Burnt Daydreams

By: Fee

Burnt daydreams, I can smell in the air

The lessons learned are my burden to bear

Memory overload, on a cold winter’s day

If I said I loved you, would it be okay

Blisters get raw, if rubbed too hard

I can go out, but not out of my backyard

The medicine’s bitter, its the price I pay

Out of sync with Eros I don’t have a say

Choking on the fumes, of a burnt daydream

Smile at the camera, my pains on the screen

Hugs and snuggles, it’s my own little way

To say how I need you each and every day…

Fee,
Alot of wisdom here, Fee. As I've told you before I used to work in a nursing home. I've seen many go back in time from a smell or a memory. Excellent poetry, my friend.

Blessings and hugggs,
~Linda

You have cleverly woven your ideas here, Pops, and I think it's very concisely done, creating much intensity. I think it's right, that your sense of smell is heightened during sickness... in fact, many mind-altering things take place, especially during fevers. But to equate that with a kind of love-sickness is novel and you've achieved a dramatic effect in so-doing. Bless you, Kate xx

There are always some smells we remember whenever we get sick-for me it is Vicks vapor rub.

I've heard that a smell can often release more thoughts and memories and emotions than a sight or a sound can; and I for one believe it's true.

Having a "memory overload" and being "out of sync with Eros" is kind of finding oneself trying to do one hand applaus.
But you aren't alone, you have plenty of friends, choose one, and let all the *&%$£#.¤ out on her.................or him. LOL
