Have you ever sat at your desk...tired, mind dulled, a little lonely perhaps but still something or someone keeps you there thinking and wondering...

Poem Artwork

Mind Drifting

hour approaching midnight

sky an inky shade of blue

full moon kisses the lake

I sit here missing you

desk lamp harsh and glaring

screen glows pathetic white

diet cola in an old beer mug

perhaps just that kind of night

seeking words best forgotten

sentences don’t make sense

I want you in my private place

open gate on a verbal fence

eerie roar of bitter silence

settles aching on my breast

am I creator or ill created

is love some kind of test

mind true to form…rebellious

good night heart I’m off to bed

perhaps to ravage my simplicities

make soul love inside my head…

Fee, I so know this feeling, I make soul love to my special soul mate and it is so remarkably awesome! Lovely poem, very deeply moving and expressive of a warm soulful poet.
Peace, love, and light,

Soul love inside my head...sometimes it's the best you can do under the circumstances, and who knows, a wonderful precursor to a reunion. Patrick

you speak openly and honestly of a place where many of us often feel alone, caught on the barbs of some uncomfortable, emotional fence and hung out to dry, immobilised by our sense of romantic longing. Poignant words, dear Pops, with some lovely ideas and images: making soul-love in such instances has to be the way to go... even if it's to oneself! (oooooooooo!) :)) xx

I get the strong feeling in this poem that a sense of aloneness and isolation prevails, especially at night when long shadows and creepy sounds rap insistently upon the bones. Big hug, J'nia
