Angel and Mortal

We met there in a forest of shadowed solitude

When I came across her crying so alone

Her still wings darkened by love's  remorse

Her heart could find no place to call a home

Between her teardrops in faint whispers

She spoke to me of her heartache’s misery

How a dark soul had stole her heart in past

and took away all that was left of her dignity

I listened close and somewhere in her story

I found and held her tiny soft hand in mine

A spark ignited and a kiss soon  fanned the flame

and it was then I knew she'd forget the past in time

I gathered her into my soothing arms

Comforted both broken wing and soul with care

Gently kissed away the nightmares from her past

Promised her that I would always want her near

Her Angel heart and my mortal one entwined to become as one

A miracle where once was hurt and pain

that grew to be something we could not explain

and I knew my world would never be the same…
