Sea Ink on Sand Parchment

By: Felix L. Perry

He drowned in the tides of misbegotten dreams

Buried in the sandcastles of youth misspent

Slowly slipping into comfort of his obscurity

Blissful, not caring who he was or where he went

One last image to distinguish writer and bard

The very hand that wrote a thousand song

Now with sea his ink and sand his parchment

His epitaph etched confession of all his wrong

His funeral dirge the cawing of the sea birds

Thence to rest below shadows of falling sun

An ode, a haiku, a sonnet perhaps gibberish

His sacrifice of bridal show begun…never won!

All the accolades below, and more!!!

Incredibly sensitive and visually rich portrayal. . .and all without wasting a word.

Plus you chose the perfect way to illustrate.

Fee, you are a treasure.

An ode, a haiku, a sonnet sans a hint of gibberish.

Haiku makes me wanna try...lessee:

both funny and real
he opens his heart and pours
joy is ours

Sorry. Best I can do 'on short notice.' ;)

Gon' work on it!

So good to see you post again, dear Felix. You have been muchly missed. Another thoughtful one from you, articulating the mariner poet's heart and reflecting, in all those words both written and unsaid, what will actually be the very last of his that will be recorded for posterity. Makes me think. However, since written words of poetry in particular are very often timeless, every fragment will endure, never to be dated, eroded or deleted. Do hope you are well as you think these dear thoughts. xx

Felix, it is there at the edge of the land, where the sea crests and retreats that imagination is renewed with each roll and slap of a wave upon the shore. Could a bard, a writer ask for more? Let the sea joyfully reclaim what it bestowed upon the land, to the writer and bard's hands. Love this one. May love peace and joy be always with you my friend. Jon Michael

Heart touching Fee but perhaps for the poet and seaman this would not be a bad finish at all.
