Boom, Echo, Bust, an old book I read in university. Worth reading again. You are right on with your message and according to many it will take several generations before things will be righted again and that doesn't mean living on credit cards and excesses in our daily lives.The documentary In Debt We Trust is more current and to the point.
But prayer, yes, and look after our neightbours and offer that cup of water or a warm coat to one who needs it. Its a start.

Public School is a place to teach civics, respect and obedience to the Constitution of USA, English and general subjects of history and sciences.

Our disgraced society is tolerating the violators of our Constitution, because the authorities don't respect our Constitution of USA; and as we keep allowing those in Congress and Oval Office to protect thieves of Wall Street, we establish the foundation of our future SLAVEYARD REPUBLIC.

We have proved that SODOM and GOMORRAH compared to our society ~ were a SANCTUARY.

It is very sad how our freedom of religion rights have become freedom from religion-- how somehow we've pried the very motto of our country from itself. In God We Trust! We've torn that from the very fabric of our political founding. No wonder we're floundering. BTW, need an apostrophe in "were" before your question "What do we do?"

I love how you worked this poem out to a wonderful wish at the end.

You state the key to the problem: "Man is greedy and covered with sin!" Always has been -- always will be. Think about it; greed and fraud and corruption earns the big bucks. Crime does pay, and it pays much better than honest work. Jail is an on-the-job investment for career criminals. In 1995, I assisted in the arrest of a career criminal whose specialties were defrauding credit card companies and banks. We estimated his earnings, on average, at about $385 thousand per year. He was convicted and he spent a few years in prison. He is free again and is likely back in his old business. Why would he change? Why would he want to do honest work and maybe earn $26 thousand a year?

"Man is greedy and covered with sin!" Sin is no threat to corrupted credit lenders, Wall Street moguls, and government officials. The idea that "God will punish you for that" is a puff of smoke blown away by the wind of right-now rip-off profits. You may find your home foreclosed and have to file bankrupcy while CEOs are walking away grinning with offshore accounts brimming with their criminal booty.

"We the people" encouraged this to happen. We loved those credit cards with upward mobility always-rising limits; an un-ending cash cow to feed our own greed, and we topped those cards and pushed for more until the system toppled, and here we are ... again. We truly did this to ourselves ... again.

And, just like what happened following the Great Depression, we will have a time of prudence and thrift and responsibility while the present damaged generation is alive and teaching their kids. When they die, and their kids grow old and die, the lesson they taught will be lost in the winds of new future temptations ... and we will be off to the races ... again.

And, ninety years from now, a poet will write "Man is greedy and covered with sin!" -- and a reader will comment ... again ...
