Who are Common Folks?

What is normal? What is common? It's hard to find common ground in this upside down world we live in these days. However, some things do remain the same such as the laws of the universe and Biblical principles.

Poem Artwork

Who are the common folks these days?

It used to be that common folk got married and bought a house.

Now we are fortunate to get a job and sometimes the man wears a blouse.

Not too long ago the common folk prayed and reading the Bible was the norm.

Now in some churches homosexuals are changing the Bible and taking over like a storm

It used to be common to pray at ball games and know the golden rule for doing right

Today common folks do their own thing and the morals are out of sight

The law can be bought if you are wealthy you can win most every case

While the common folks live by another set of rules and are told to save and not to waste

It used to be kids would play outside and romp around without a care

Now kids like to play games inside a computer box and never come up for air

It ‘s getting hard to find what’s really common or normal these days

But there is hope in The Lord who is eternal and never changes His ways

Amen

AMEN! I BELIEVE THAT 'COMMON FOLKS' ARE A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THE TOTAL EARTH'S POPULATION AND THAT PERCENTAGE GROWS LESS AND LESS EACH DAY. THE 'WEALTH' OF COMMON FOLKS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH MONEY ONE HAS OR DOESN'T HAVE IN 'THIS' WORLD. COMMON FOLKS ARE THOSE WHOSE 'INHERITANCE' AND 'RICHES' RESIDE IN HEAVEN...NOT HERE ON EARTH. THEREFORE, THEIR LIFE STYLES AND VALUES REFLECT THE PRESENCE OF GOD. THE BIBLE SAYS WE ARE, '...A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD...A PECULIAR PEOPLE...' AND INDEED, WE ARE! FOR WE KNOW THAT OUR FATHER IS THE KING, WHO IS THE MAKER AND OWNER OF ALL THINGS IN THIS WORLD! AND WE KNOW THAT HE HAS PREPARED FOR EACH OF US 'MANSIONS'...WE ARE 'WEALTHY' BEYOND ANYTHING THAT WE COULD IMAGINE! WE ARE 'WEALTHY' IN THE ONLY WAY THAT MATTERS TO GOD...WE ARE WEALTHY, 'SPIRITUALLY'!!! WE ARE OFFSPRINGS OF THE KING OF KINGS! THE WORD OF GOD SAYS SO, AND, HE IS NOT A MAN THAT HE SHOULD LIE...NOR(AS YOU HAVE STATED)...DOES HE OR HIS WORD CHANGE! PRAISE GOD, HE IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER MORE...HE AND HIS LOVE FOR US IS ETERNAL! YES, MANY THINGS/VALUES HAVE CHANGED AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE GOD IN THEIR LIVES. BUT, IF WE KEEP OUR EYES STAYED ON HIM, HE(AS HIS WORD PROMISES) WILL KEEP US IN PERFECT PEACE. 'COMMON FOLKS'...TRYING TO LIVE FOR CHRIST, ANYHOW...THAT'S US! WELL DONE, JOHN, AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Thank GOD that for us, Brother, the common denominator is Christ!

You've really expressed it well, John. Nice work!

I hope you are much improved?

You say this so well. Who are the common folks?; to know the answer to this question in todays world, one has to know their friends and family very well and even then they might be fooled! I have less close friends than I did five years ago; I learned to separate the wheat from the chaff, removed myself from chaff and I now have the friends left that I know are the good and decent common folk. A wonderful, down to earth poem that I enjoyed immensely, John.

Common folk, common decency and common sense. All a thing of the past? May God have mercy on us. Well said, John.
